Research Interests: Organic Synthesis, Bioorganic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Chemical Cell Biology

Research in the Peterson lab at Penn State is focused on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of biologically active small molecules. Our core science is organic chemistry, and we use solution-phase and solid-phase methods to synthesize modulators and probes of cellular biology. We evaluate the activity and potency of these compounds in diverse cellular and biochemical assays. Three of our research objectives are briefly outlined below.

 

1) Synthetic mimics of mammalian cell surface receptors
