Diffusion quantum Monte Carlo is a method of solving for ground state wavefunctions of simple systems. Wavefunctions describe the probability of a particle being at a particular point (in a box for instance). Quantum Monte Carlo methods use points in space rather than smooth functions to represent the wavefunctions.
