Single Molecule Biophysics @ Penn State
: Lee Research group

Welcome to the Lee group in the Department of Chemistry at the Pennsylvania State University. We probe structural and positional dynamics of single biomolecules in order to understand how they work in cells. We currently study effects of chromatin modifications on nucleosomal dynamics and the mechanism of translation by the ribosome, and the mechanism of DNA replication. Above are some examples of systems we used to study structural dynamics of nucleosomal DNA and positioning dynamics of tRNA inside the ribosome. The dynamics are proposed to be critical in their functions.

Systems used to study
(A) Structural dynamics of DNA wrapped around a histone core (JACS 2010) and
(B) Positional dynamics of tRNA inside the ribosome (Biophys. J. 2010)
